What a summer! my, my. I’m enjoying it fully and I sure hope you are too.

I made a promise to myself before I left for a well deserved vacation. I really should’ve let you guys in on it too. I promised myself to boost my health and focus on personal development. So what does that mean? Well, for me it’s going for that occasional 16 mile run every other day, listening to Tony Robbins tapes, reading boos on the subject and developing myself and business ideas. In the sun, at the beach, of course.

Live with passion and have a great summertime! I’m back soon. It’s going to be the most exciting fall. Mark my word.

It’s sad. Even the guy who just passed me now and whom I stared at to try out, turned to his most anxious state and fled.

I’m very undecisive here. On one hand I’ve had the best week with the ladies (I know, it sounds dorky, but life’s about this sort of thing.). I’m dating two gorgeous girls as of thursday.

But still. The extreme ugliness of Stureplan of Stockholm is to be reckoned with. No one can handle to be them selves.

Where is the love, ladies?

Then again. It’s not a lot to do at work and my vacation starts on friday. Could you blame me?

I often wonder about workload its relationship to productivity. When you have lots to do, you tend to be very productive.

Now, for instance, I could try to be kind to my future self and do some ground work for this fall. But no. I’d rather brainstorm business ideas and surf around.

Is this at all familiar to you?

Hey – don’t get me wrong. He’s a hell of a musician and dancer, but still. I guess I’m just overwhelmed with his unfortunate fate. Imagine having your funeral turned into a freak show.

Anyway. I didn’t know the guy, but this quote below moved me. Rest in peace, Mr. Jackson.

He (Alex Kjerulf that is) lists the 10 of the most common bad excuses for staying in a bad job. I’m just going to recite the list and let you read the whole story here and just comment on them a bit.

• “Things might get better” – Well, hope is the last thing that leaves man, man.
• “My boss is such a jerk but if I quit now, he wins.” – That’s just stupid. Right?
• “I’m not a quitter.” – It can be beautiful to quit. It’s just a matter of making a good exit.
• “I’ll never get another job” – C’mon. That’s just all in your head. Interupt that pattern and make yourself happy!
• “If I quit I’ll lose my salary, status, company car, the recognition of my peers, etc.” – That’s just anxious. You don’t need things. Things don’t make you happy. You make yourself happy.
• “Everywhere else is just as bad” – A case of the ol’ half empty glass.
• “I’ve invested so much in this job already” – Sunk cost. Spilled milk. Cry and move on.
• “I’ll lose my health insurance.” – Not familiar with that. I live in Sweden. I did see Michael Moores Sicko though, and it seems the US’s health care system sucks.
• “My job pays very well” – Not familiar with that either. Sigh.
• “Quitting will look bad on my CV” – Au contraire my friend! It makes you look strong!

I’m not sure I’ve heard or used all of them myself but I’m sure a majority of people grab on to them from time to time.  I think people could – myself included – be a bit more grateful at their jobs. I’m sure there are lots to enjoy at work, if you just put it in a little perspective. I like to think of Chineese mines as an example of a really sucky job. Or Russian for that matter. Or I don’t know, the other ten million jobs that are so bad you can’t even relate to them.
